Thereupon he [Rabbi] cited [as appropriate] the text: When a man's ways please the Lord, He maketh even his enemies to be at peace with him.<span class="x" onmousemove="('comment',' Prov. XVI, 7.');"><sup>5</sup></span> Wherefore, Sir, [asked Rabbi] did you act thus [contrary to order]? - Because, replied R'Hiyya, it is written: Wisdom crieth aloud it, the street: [She uttereth her voice in the broad places; she calleth at the head of the street; at the entrance of the gates, in the city she uttere her words].<span class="x" onmousemove="('comment',' Ibid.
